Declutter...Craft the Life you Want

Updated: Aug 10, 2020

Do we need all the possessions that we acquire?

Do you really need that one more pair of shoes or new outfit?

As we grow and travel through life, we tend to acquire material things along the way. There are some items that we own that we have never used but somewhere along the line we acquired them or we were gifted. These items may still be in the original boxes, stored in the garage or shoved somewhere at the back of a closet.

That’s a lot easier than organizing that garage or closet…

However, we must find the motivation to spark that mindset that we need to be organized. In clearing out your space, you create order in your life.

Have you noticed how difficult it is to work in a messy, disorganized space? When clean, airy and organized, the living space feels bright, cheerful and inviting.

We need to remind ourselves that what we don’t use can be of significant use to someone else. So kiss that item goodbye if you no longer have use for it and provide it with wings to find a new home where it can bring joy to someone else.

Some quotes to inspire you to declutter.

Select one, write it down and place in a spot where you will see it often so that it keeps inspiring you!

“The first step in crafting the life you want is to get rid of everything you don’t.”
― Joshua Becker

“In the never-ending battle between order and chaos, clutter sides with chaos every time. Anything that you possess that does not add to your life or your happiness eventually becomes a burden.” John Robbins
“Every minute you spend looking through clutter, wondering where you put this or that, being unable to focus because you’re not organized costs you: time you could have spent with family or friends, time you could have been productive around the house, time you could have been making money.” Jean Chatzky
“What I know for sure is that when you declutter – whether it’s on your home, your head, or your heart – it is astounding what will flow into that space that will enrich you, your life, and your family.” Peter Walsh
“A simplified life means that what has to get done will get done. And when we pare down life to its simplest, most beautifully basic parts, we’re left with room to enjoy each other, to rest, and to truly savor life with all our hearts, minds, and spirits.” —Emily Ley
“Clutter is the physical manifestation of unmade decisions fueled by procrastination.”
Christina Scalise
“Under the influence of clutter, we may underestimate how much time we’re giving to the less important stuff.”
Zoë Kim
“When home feels out of control, no matter what the reason, unsettledness and anxiety can seep in, and then the chaos becomes internal as well as external.”
Myquillyn Smith
