Essential Oils - Positively Impact Health and Well-Being

I love using essential oils, yes, I do!

It could be a throwback on my childhood and using Vicks Vaporub when I had a cold but I find that essential oils are very comforting and positively impact my spirit and well-being. (Vicks VapoRub, contains about 1.2 percent eucalyptus oil along with other cough suppressant ingredients). This started a lifelong love of essential oils...

Essential oils is a convenient way to improve your health and quality of life. You can use them to relieve pain and cramping, improve respiratory health, and heal skin conditions. They also relieve congestion, promote healthy sleep patterns, and boost your mood.

While there are numerous essentials oils on the market, my preference runs to a few that have proved themselves over the years.

Using essential oils in a diffuser lends to a pleasant, aromatic atmosphere that calms and renews.

Eucalyptus oil

Eucalyptus oil offers many topical and aromatic benefits and has a soothing, cooling vapor which makes the benefits easily obtained through inhaling and diffusing.

Eucalyptus oil works well to get rid of a cough and to get the mucus out of your chest.

Eucalyptus oil also contains strong purifying properties that are advantageous for the skin and can be used to cleanse surfaces and the air.

Due to its cleansing properties, Eucalyptus is found in mouth rinses to freshen breath and promote oral health.

A few drops under my pillow at bedtime, works like a charm when I have a cold and relieves nasal congestion.

Lavender

Many people enjoy the pleasing fragrance of lavender and use it to treat a variety of conditions that range from helping them calm down and getting a good night’s sleep to managing sleeplessness and anxiety.

Lavender tea has also been used to treat sleep disruptions, restlessness, and stomach irritation.

Throw back from my childhood – using a blend of coconut and lavender oil as a treatment to everything from colds to hairdressing.

Peppermint

Peppermint oil has a wide variety of uses. It has a fresh, pleasing scent and is used in toothpaste and mouthwashes. It can be used to treat a variety of conditions, including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), nausea, and other digestive issues, as well as the common cold and headaches.

….and best of all at the end of a long day, make a delicious cup of peppermint tea... sit back and relax...

As with everything else, essential oils may not work for everyone so if you are unsure if you should use, consult your doctor.
