Life Changes

Life is all about change. Change can be good and at times not so good. Change impacts not only one person but all linked to that person.

There are times when change forces us to grow even if we would prefer not to as in the story below.

Danny was an excellent scholar and a great son. He did well at school and always aced his assignments and exams. His parents were proud of their son and loved to show his report card to their friends and posted his achievements on Social Media for their friends to view, like and comment on. Life was good and Danny had a brilliant future ahead of him until...

One day while riding his bike, Danny got into a terrible, life altering accident. He suffered a traumatic head injury that left him with poor vision, frequent headaches and problems with concentration even after surgery. The road to recovery was slow and difficult for the entire family. Life changed suddenly and without warning...

As a result, Danny had to spend time away from school as he went through rehabilitation which was both painful and long. To make it worse, his sunny nature disappeared as he became increasingly frustrated with his current situation and threw tantrums, yelled and sulked for hours in his room. He no longer wanted to associate with his friends and gradually he became more and more isolated.

Eventually he made a full recovery but... life as it was before had disappeared. Life had changed and all who were impacted had to change in other to move forward.

The moral of the story is that change does not happen only when we are ready and time does not stand still to wait for us to be ready to change.

There are times circumstances are thrown at us without warning and we are forced to change. Change has to happen in order to survive and move forward. How we handle it determines the outcome.

Our minds and spirits are truly powerful; we are resilient and we can endure much. Be of good courage!

Take time to provide a kind word, a shoulder to lean on or an hand to hold - show some compassion during a time of need. Help one another to survive the ebb and flow of life as we grow and handle change.
