Live Happy - A Commitment to Self

Happiness isn’t something that just happens to you. We all have the power to make small changes in our behavior, our surroundings and our relationships that can help set us on course for a happier life.

Only you can make this happen and being happy is your responsibility. Own it, don't rely on others to do so for you!

In a previous post, I wrote about Finding Happiness. Happiness impacts every facet of our lives; can predict health and longevity, and happiness scales can be used to measure social progress and the success of public policies.

…and as always, some of my favorite happiness quotes to remind you that you have worth and that happiness is possible!

“Don't rely on someone else for your happiness and self-worth. Only you can be responsible for that. If you can't love and respect yourself – no one else will be able to make that happen. Accept who you are – completely; the good and the bad – and make changes as YOU see fit – not because you think someone else wants you to be different.”
Stacey Charter
“Happiness is being content with what you have, living in freedom and liberty, having a good family life and good friends.”– Divyanka Tripathi
“Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude.”
– Denis Waitley
“The true secret of happiness lies in the taking a genuine interest in all the details of daily life.”
– William Morris
“The secret of happiness is freedom, the secret of freedom is courage.”
– Carrie Jones
“It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness.”
– Charles Spurgeon
“If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime, help someone else.”
– Chinese Proverb
“The greatest happiness you can have is knowing that you do not necessarily require happiness.”
– William Saroyan
“All happiness or unhappiness solely depends upon the quality of the object to which we are attached by love.”
– Baruch Spinoza
“To enjoy good health, to bring true happiness to one’s family, to bring peace to all, one must first discipline and control one’s own mind. If a man can control his mind he can find the way to Enlightenment, and all wisdom and virtue will naturally come to him.”
– Buddha
“Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word happy would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness. It is far better to take things as they come along with patience and equanimity.”
– Carl Jung

Reach deep inside of you, find the courage to take control of your life and in doing so find happiness.
